Frequently asked questions

What devices does Crosstask run on?

iPhone (iOS 17+), iPad (iPadOS 17+), and Mac (macOS 14+) today. Windows 11 is in active development. Apple Watch and Android are on the roadmap.

How do I sync between my devices?

Sign in with the same Crosstask account on each device. Sync is automatic and real-time. The app works offline and reconciles when you reconnect.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes. All traffic uses TLS 1.3, and your content (notes, comments, reminder messages, version snapshots) is envelope-encrypted with a per-organization key wrapped by AWS KMS. Our admin role cannot read your content. See the Security page for the full architecture.

How do I turn AI on or off?

AI is off by default. To enable it: Settings → AI → Enable AI features. The first time you tap an AI affordance (sparkle icon) we'll also ask explicitly. You can disable it any time from the same screen.

What does Pro give me over Free?

Longer version history (30 days vs. 7), higher AI usage limits, access to the more capable Sonnet model for AI actions, and priority email support. Free remains a fully functional todolist — no time limits, no list limits.

How does Household sharing work?

Subscribe to Household, then invite up to 5 other people by link. Each invitee installs Crosstask, signs in to their own account, and accepts the invite — there's no shared password. You can share any list with any household member at any permission level (viewer, editor, admin).

How do I cancel my subscription?

On Apple devices: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Crosstask → Cancel.

On Windows / web: Open Crosstask Settings → Subscription → Manage in Stripe.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Your data remains accessible after cancellation, but Pro features (longer history, advanced AI) are turned off.

How do I get a refund?

App Store purchases are refunded by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Stripe purchases on Windows / web, email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase and we'll process a refund.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is 30-day reversible — signing back in within that window cancels the deletion. After 30 days we crypto-shred your encryption key, which makes your content permanently unrecoverable. See the Account deletion page for full instructions.

I lost access to my TOTP authenticator. What now?

Email [email protected] from the email address on your account. We'll send a recovery flow that requires email verification + a 72-hour cool-off, then allow you to re-enroll a new authenticator.

Can I import from Todoist / Reminders / Things / TickTick?

Importers are planned for v1.1. In the meantime, paste any plain-text list into a Crosstask list and our AI quick-add can structure it into tasks.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Your data lives on our servers, not on the device. Sign in on a new device with email + password + TOTP and your lists, tasks, and history are all there.

How do I report a bug?

Email [email protected] with: (1) what you did, (2) what you expected, (3) what happened, (4) device + OS + Crosstask version. Screenshots help. If it's reproducible, please include the steps.

How do I suggest a feature?

Email [email protected] with subject "Feature request". We read everything and post a public roadmap update each quarter.

Is there a way to keep tasks completely on-device?

Not in v1 — sync requires a server to handle conflicts and reach your other devices. If on-device-only is a hard requirement, Apple's Reminders app is a strong free option.
