In-app deletion (preferred)
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the app on any device where you're signed in.
- Open Crosstask On iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows. Make sure you're signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings Tap the gear icon in the top-right of the Lists tab.
- Tap Account Then scroll to the bottom of the Account screen.
- Tap "Delete account" Read the confirmation, then tap "Delete my account" to confirm.
- Your account enters a 30-day grace period During this window you can sign back in to cancel the deletion. After 30 days the deletion is permanent.
What gets deleted
- All your lists, tasks, subtasks, notes, comments, and attachments.
- Version history for everything above.
- Reminders, push tokens, and notification preferences.
- Your email, hashed password, and TOTP secret.
- Any shares you created (recipients lose access on grace expiry).
- The per-organization data encryption key that protects all of the above (crypto-shred).
After we crypto-shred your encryption key, your content is permanently unrecoverable — even from our backups. Backup snapshots still contain the ciphertext, but without the key it is cryptographically meaningless.
What we retain
We retain a metadata-only record for 7 years to meet legal compliance (anti-fraud, accounting, lawful requests). That record contains:
- Your account ID (a random UUID).
- The date your account was deleted.
- Subscription history (purchase / cancellation dates, no payment details).
It does not contain your email, your name, or any of your content.
Cancelling deletion
Changed your mind? Within 30 days of requesting deletion, simply sign back in to Crosstask on any device. We'll show a banner confirming that your account is scheduled for deletion, and a button to cancel. Tap it and everything is restored — your lists, tasks, comments, and history are exactly as you left them.
If you can't sign in
If you've lost access to your devices, your TOTP authenticator, or your email, you can still request deletion by writing to us from any email address you can verify ownership of.
Send an email to [email protected] with subject "Account deletion request" and include:
- The email address on the Crosstask account you want to delete.
- Any proof you can offer that this account belongs to you (e.g., a screenshot from inside the app, the date you signed up, a recent receipt).
- Confirmation that you understand the deletion is permanent after the 30-day grace period.
We respond within 5 business days and complete the deletion request within 30 days. We may ask for additional verification before honoring a deletion request we cannot tie to the account owner — this is to protect you against someone else deleting your data.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Cancel your subscription separately before deletion:
- Apple App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Crosstask → Cancel.
- Stripe (Windows / web): Settings → Subscription → Manage in Stripe.
